yo,
if anyone's out st schaeffer thurs/fri this week, would you mind letting us know if things are poopy (instead of sh*tty, i guess) on the trails? my friend and i were going to come up and ride if things look OK and its not raining sat, but we obviously don't want to tear things up if its still really wet/muddy out there.
thanks, all, and maybe we'll see some of you out there sat,

I rode it this past weekend, and it was really, really dry. I doubt the storms we had yesterday affected it much. If it stays dry this week you should be fine.

I agree, should be fine unless there is a soaking rain on fri/sat.

We rode today (Wednesday) and it was PERFECT. The small amount of rain (and snow) we've gotten damped down the dust just enough.

I live a good bit away from Gaithersburg/Germantown. Don't know how much rain Schaeffer got over the course of today and last night. Anybody know what the trails are looking like? Probably stayed warm enough to drain and dry a bit. Would rather not waste the day driving to find out it's still sloppy. Thanks.

Schaeffer will not be ridable tommorrow. We got pretty steady rain all day yesterday and today, and Schaeffer just doesnt drain that well.

True, Schaeffer may not be rideable by Sunday, but things should improve quickly.I agree it will improve pretty quick (especially considering how dry it has been up to now) but there is no way it is going to be ridable this weekend. Maybe by Tuesday or Wednesday.
Also, according to the National Weather Service (http://www.weather.gov/climate/getclimate.php?date=&wfo=lwx&sid=DCA&pil=CLI&recent=yes&specdate=20060408213551), we got a half inch of rain in the last 24 hours, not a quarter. Which sounds right to me, as I spent the day walking around downtown DC in it. :)

It rained pretty steadily up here from 7:30 this morning 'til about 7 pm tonight, on top of whatever we got Friday. It MIGHT be okay by Tuesday. I wouldn't try it, though, if I had to drive a long way, until Wednesday at least.
