I think we should have a list of all the freeride trails and what features they have. They dont really have to be freeride trails but have to have some sort of freeride kind of feature (ie Sheaffer and all the nice new logrides) Ill start a list and you can add as you go along
(keep in mind these are the ones ive been to)
1) 495 Jumps (tabel tops gap jumps, dual slolum)
2) Captiol Crecent jumps (gap jumps, step downs, log drops, bowl, wall ride)
3) Gambrill (rock infested downhills)
4) Sheaffer (log rides)
5) Clydes freeride (a few jumps, a bowl, one drop complete and one other being built)
Add other trails and their feaitures

There's WAY more out in the Watershed than anyone knows. There are some dudes/dudettes in here that know them all, but talk about freeriding. There is some seriously serious stuff out there. And good luck finding a soft landing in all the rocks. Whether it's drop options or freeride trails, the 'shed has it, baby!
And don't forget the 'lewis and clark' trail at Patapsco by landing road. Oh, and 'drug trail' out there, too.

For the most part, the reason the good stuff is so good is because it's not advertised on internet message boards. :) I'm all for responsible trail building, etc. but there is some great stuff out there that would never pass the liability tests often necessary for legal stuff.
CountZero: Look around, 495 is no secret. You can read about the current status here and on other forums. Yeah, it's not legal yet, and it's future is unknown, but the cat is out of the bag.

hey, i know of capital crecent and "clydes", i am pretty much lookin out for cc so we should ride there not talk about it...
and for clydes well i know the kids that built it and well from what i heard it a pile of crap
these are the kind of places that will never be legalized and are not built to more standards
lets talk about/list places that are more likey to become/or are legal-495/fredrick areas
-however lookin forward to seeing you guys on the trails(if you must talk about sketchy trails talk about it on dcstreet.com)

There's a natural half-pipe and a couple of jumps located off the Parklawn Group Picnic area in Rock Creek Park....or at least it was there when I moved away nearly five years ago. The "half pipe" is a dried up creek bed, so I don't imagine it is going anywhere, and the kids from the nearby Bethesda Park community probably kept improving the jumps.

I think I know what you mean by the 'lewis and clark' trail but where is the 'drug trail'?

Not to spoil anyone's fun. But it is pretty taboo to discuss trail that may not be "offically sanctioned" on the internet. If in doubt, if you didn't build it, and you want to see it last a while, keep it off line as much as possible. Even if you think it's OK to mention, it might not ultimately be your call.
Think Fight Club rules. First rule of fight club is there is no fight club.
In an ideal world, a club like MORE could and would stand up and fight to save such spots, but this is far from a perfect world. They can only do so much so sometimes it's best to keep spots quiet.

Nope. That's not it. PM me if you want details on the location. The only disclaimer I have is that I haven't been back there for 5 years. However, since the area is a dried up creek bed, I imagine it would still be there.
