Please help us keep the $125K proposed to MORE in MD budget!
A decision by the MD legislature to eliminate the 125k proposed in the DNR budget as recommended by budget analysts supposedly will wait until next week. This buys us more time to contact the delegates to the appropriations sub committee--pasted below.
At this point it would be good to get anyone who lives in MD to e-mail, call or write the delegates offices and ask that the grant to MORE be kept in the DNR budget as it is a cost effective way to partner with DNR to renovate trails during a time when DNR has seen a reduction in park personnel and budget.
Please call or e-mail the delegates to the Maryland General Assembly listed below.
Call the delegate for the county you are from. Politely ask them to support keeping the funding proposed to the Mid-Atlantic Off-Road Enthusiasts in the Dept of Natural Resources Budget. You heard that it might be cut.
State your name, what City and County you are from, and why you are calling.
Here are the main points to include:
-Name
-Address
-Member of MORE (Mid-Atlantic Off-Road Enthusiasts)
In your words let them know MORE is concerned that a proposed budget item for MORE might be eliminated. Please do not cut it. Continued funding will allow MORE to dedicate greater resources directly toward trail renovation projects in state parks.
Last year the MD legislature approved 75K to MORE for trail related projects. See the “MORE story and 75K budget” attached file.
If you do trail work at Schaeffer, Rosaryville, Gambril, Patapsco or Cedarville mention that too especially if you live in the county they are in.
