As of Thursday morning the 26th, Fairland trails had only a few of the usual areas still wet. The majority is just right and is ridable now. It looks as though a few bikes rode a day or so earlier and it wasn't good for the trail. New MORE built bridge doing fine.

Conditions 7/21/03

Fairland trails were in great condition today. There are a few logs down which I am trying to get P&P to cut thru. Over a week ago I did some maintenance on the south side just after the turn at the top of the "Bug" climb, all the way down to where you enter back into the trail from the road bridge. The stuff MORE built is doing great. Still could use some light weed wacking in a few places.

I plan to lead a ride there in a week or two with the option--for those interested--of re-riding the trail and doing some light maintance as we go in a few key areas where the vegitation is trying to grab us as we ride.

I need a little help moving a log before this Saturday's ride at Fairland. One or two people will be fine. I have a wench we will use. Thursday starting anytime after 4pm is best for me. We could squeeze in a ride too!

Also, call late Friday or before 9am Saturday morning if it rains Friday to check if ride is still on.

Any word on current conditions? Thinking of checking this out on Wed. if it's dry.

Thanks.

I rode Fairland on Sunday (8/10/03) and it was a little muddy in the usual spots. I don't know how badly it got hit, but after the storms the past couple days, I would have to guess it's too wet now.

Fairland Conditions 8/12/03

I Rode Fairland today. The usual wet spots are muddy and normally can take 3 days drying to become firm. But overall 90% of the trail is ridable. As long as it doesn't rain, Thurday should be even better.

Fairland Maintenance Ride--8/30/03
Meet: 9:30am
Montgomery County Side.

Lots of fallen tree limbs and a couple of small trees blew across the trail from
this past Tuesday's storm. Other than this, as of this past Thursday the 28th, the trails drained very well and are in good riding condition. We will both ride and remove the fallen debris. If it rains Friday night or Saturday we will only hike to clear the trail and not ride.

Bring work gloves and something to drink. Tools provided. We only anticipate using folding saws or bow saws.

If riding, dress according to how much you want to get into the underbrush. If helping with more than moving light sticks off trail, wear long pants and work boots.

It helps me plan if you let me know you are coming.

Fairland Conditions 9/11/03

Trail conditions have been very good all week. Still some fallen trees here and there but otherwise most of the storm debrise has been cleared. Ride it and enjoy it.

Rode Fairland Sunday, and it was in surprisingly good shape. There were a few trees down, but I'd say the trail was at least 95% rideable, if not more. A little muddy at the usual spots, but not bad at all.

Fairland Conditions 11/17/03

While there is still debris and about 13 trees across the trails the tread is in great shape and not wet. Uncrossable downed trees will be cut soon.

November 15 is the fall trail work day here at Fairland. I hope to have further details next week.

Because of trail work comitments and family comitments I probably will not be able to lead any rides here this fall, let alone ride except last minute over here or during the week. So if there any of you out there that know the trails here at Fairland and can help lead a ride please contact the new MORE Ride Coordinator, Ezra Wolfe at: ezraw@yahoo.com

Thanks,
Austin

Fairland 11/4/03

All those pesky fallen trees are cut, save one or two. Good tread conditions but lots of leaves down now.

Mark your calendars for Nov. 15, 9:30am. We will be building a significant trail reroute and another small bridge. We need a lot of hands. We would like to have a bridge building crew and a trail building crew. Bring your power drill.

Call or e-mail me if you can bring a drill so I know we have enough.

Thanks

I hit fairlands after work today. I'd actually never ridden in this park before but it's so close to work my hope was it would make a nice afterwork ride. I went in on the Montgomery county side off greencastle. The trail was in great shape with only a couple of softspots which I easily walked my bike around.

I enjoyed the ride but I have got to learn these trails. I'm glad I had my gps with me. Made it easier to get back to the care when it started getting dark.
