Has anyone seen Loch Raven recently? Especially the Seminary Road section?
I am thinking of riding tomorrow afternoon (after three days of hot sunny weather). Any thoughts?
What about Patapsco State Park Avalon? Anyone?
I wish we had "trail cams".
(I bought a road bike this year. I guess it was a good year to get one.)

I was by the park and ride yesterday and there were lots(I mean lots) of bikers on the trails. How muddy ? don't know. I posted to DCAMB to see if any of them road. I'll post back if I hear anything. My thoughts are that the trails there are still muddy but probably rideable. I need a fix. I will more than likely go this PM and check for myself. I figure to stay as high on the ridge as I can. We decided to try Loch Raven on Tuesday. There were lots of riders. The trails are good to ride in some places. But there are other places where they are just not ready. We did the popular section leading from Seminary Ave. We "tip-toed" through the worst areas.
The worst hit areas seem to be mostly on the fire road sections. (Yes, I know, we're not supposed to ride anything but the fireroads.) There are ruts and washed out areas on many sections of fire roads. There are stream crossings where there normally aren't stream crossings. Sam's grave and other such trails are drying up fairly well and have little to no washout. The worst areas on non-fireroad trails are those sections closest to stream crossings.
We should have given the trail a couple more days. :(
We are planning on trying Loch Raven again this afternoon (Thursday). We are hoping two days of scorching hot weather will help. 100 degrees is bad if your on the pavement, great if you are hoping for some dryer trails.

PMweller I hope you post Loch Raven conditions. I just posted PAtapsco Avalons. Seems that I and another biker disagree on the conditions. Charlie
