So where do you prefer to eat after putting in a good long ride? I've ridden with all kinds of folks, and it seems that different groups have different preferences. Some prefer cheap, some prefer breweries, and some even need a steaming hot cup of java!
For me, nothing ends a ride better than a Quiznos regular Classic Italian sub (on white, natch), with Jalapeno chips and a cola. :) Cheap(er) and good.

Chic-fil-a grilled chicken sandwich is my choice. That doesn't work too well on Sundays. California Tortilla veggie/Guacamole burrito or a Chipotle carnitas burrito bowl will do in a pinch.

Yes, Chick-Fil-A. I'll add that to the poll, if possible. I do like me some chicken and pickles!
EDIT: Can't add it. Just pick from the list above! :D

Your Poll doesn't work for me!
(And neither does the questionnaire - Baddda BooM!)
I think food choice is directly related to the ride!
Here are my favorites:
Wakefield Night Ride - Kilroy's
Gambril - The Gyro King (The best Italian Subs! and vanilla ice cream!!)
Oahu - Fish Taco's (Does it matter where?)
Schaeffer Farms - Roy's (But not as in Rogers) in Gathersburg. It's down by NIST and has over 150 sandwich choices
Fountain Head - Sports in Lakeridge
Elizabeth Furnace - A PLB and PB&J sitting in the back of the Pick-Up
You can eat at a Quiznos anywhere. It's like going to Performance instead of your LBS. There's nothing wrong with doing it but sampling locally is always the best.

I like how they always say "The pleasure is mine" when you say "Thank you." I think that's part of the Chick-Fil-A indoctrination technique. Whenever someone says "The pleasure is mine," I always have to ask if they ever worked for GFC (God Fearin' Chicken). You'd be suprised how many people answer that question "yes".

Hey guys! Post up what's fast, cheap, easy to eat while driving and relatively healthy at 9-10 pm on the way home (west on 66) from Wakefield. I don't know that part of NoVa all that well. There are a bunch of MikkyDs on my way home. I have to go out of my way to find a Wendy's where I get a burger that has real lettuce and tomatoes and not drowned in a ton of goopy sauce (I skip the fries to try and be healthy). I once tried a grilled chicken sandwich at Wendy's and it reminded me of tender rubber. Bleack!

Larry mentioned location-based dining.
For EF, stopping at The Apple House for BBQ on the way home is hard to beat. They don't always have the pig fired up in the winter, but in the spring, summer and fall you can pretty much always count on some really good BBQ there.
I noticed that the reastaurant in Waterlick, VA is open for business again. I've had a few good meals there. Nothing fancy, but when you're starving after a lap or two around EF, anything short of my skanky riding shoes tastes good.
To answer SG's question about locations.....
There's a Baja Fresh at Nutly Street and Lee Hwy (2 minutes off of I-66) on your way home. They've got good food that I often crave.
There's a Chick-Fil-A in Fair Oaks mall (also on the way home, but might be closed by the time you get there). That is 5 minutes off of I-66.
Fairfax Towneee Centreee (West Ox Rd. and Rt. 50 -- 5 minutes form I-66) has both a Moby Dick with great Gyros, Shawarma, etc. They also have a Baja Fresh in that shopping center.

If I'm feeling like a fatty, I'll hit up Chipotle for a chicken burrito. Nothing like a 1000 calorie, two pound burrito to top off the tank.
If I have a captain fitness attitude, probably something around my house in east baltimore. There are a ton of neighborhood restaurants that have amazing food.
I'm a fan of Chik-fil-a too.....their southwest chargrilled salad is scrum-diddly-umptious.

It's all about the Chipotle, baby. $6 for a burrito the size of my head that keeps me full for the next three months.

Seems like a good poll, so I moved it to the Polls forum and psoted on the home page :)
BTW, nothing like a craft brew and Jambalaya after a good ride - ever been to Sweetwater after a hard spin at Wakefield?
More often than not I end up sucking down a burrito or hefty burger though...

I need my beef jerky, big gulp and hot tamales! It's how I keep my girlish figure.

I like food in general. :o (no comment DCRAIDER) I will eat just about any cousine on the planet. Quiznos just sounds really good now.
If I am just returning home for my meal with the family, I will stop and use my savvy @ Starbucks.

Now the logical follow on poll is which riding destination has the best post ride eats???
Personally I think Gambrill has a slight edge over Avalon for the lead (both have good beer and grub, but gambrill's is closer to the trailhead) with Rosaryville being the worst (is there anything out there). I also miss the old days at Fountainhead when you could stop by the farmers stand for fresh fruit!
Think of the critical knowledge that could be gained.

There is one not too far from Avalon, in Columbia. It's right across the street from the shopping Center with Dick's and Target in it. (Maybe on Dobbin?)

Schaeffer has to give Gambrill a run for the money for this title. There's at least a dozen places to eat within 5 minutes of Schaeffer. California Tortilla and Chick-Fil-A are right there. The best near Schaeffer is a little mom and pop Mexican place just off of 118. Grumpy J introduced me to that place. It doesn't suck at all.

Beer selection is usually a primary driver for our groups. And not eating at most of the places you have listed! (What's w/ all the chain food joints in the poll?)

Don't go there, go to Frisco Burrito instead, right off Dobbin on the other side of rt. 175. Much better and not owned by McDonalds. Support your LBS (Local Burrito Shop)!

If I am riding local my favorite stop is Five Guys. I've always wanted to try the Dog Patch Tavern across from Greenbrier, but haven't worked up the nerve yet...anyone been?
There's a brewpub in downtown Frederick that's pretty decent as well...can't remember the name right now, but worth it if you are coming from the brier/brill/shed area.

I was thrilled to find a 5 guys off one of the early exits off of 81 when heading south from 81! No beer, but good burgers!

You're right. There was a time when I would hit 5 guys after every ride. Consequently, I was probably gaining more weight by riding, instead of losing it! I wonder if the Board Gods (martin/JoeF?) can change Mickey D's to 5 guys since it doesn't seem there is anyone willing to admit they like Mcnuggets after a ride...

I answered "Fancy pants Brewery" even though I don't drink anymore.......I know some of you are waiting for the punch line, but it's true. I quit drinking in 04. Anyway, breweries generally have pretty good bar food which beats the hell out of fast food. My favorite fancy pants brewery dish is the grilled tuna appetizer at Capitol City Brewing Co. It's seared and served rare with a mustard sauce.
Oh, and those of you who have been to my house for a post ride brew or two need not worry. I still have a well stocked fridge in the garage. :)

I'll substitute 'always' for 'usually'. Down here in the sticks it's BYO. Bag of pretzels for an appetizer.

Wyvill's Tavern in Upper Marlboro. 4 miles North on 301. On the left.
Just remember where you are when you walk in. It ain't no Sweetwater Tavern, but the tap selection is decent.

OK, I was man enough to admit to Mickey D's. When rushing from most rides to get home to the family, the drive thru's convenient, fast and the grilled chicken with no mayo is reasonably healthy...
FYI to the 5 Guys fans leaving Schaeffer - a new location opened in the Kentlands recently. Take Great Seneca Highway south to Kentlands Blvd and take a right. Go 3/4 around the first traffic circle and proceed to the T. 5 Guys is right on the T. There plenty of parking to the left or right in the lots in front of Bally's or Petsmart, respectively.
For those seeking Chipotle, proceed straight through the traffic circle and turn right at the next stop sign. Curve to your left and a big burritos await.

I answered Wendy's, but I have to say, it isn't for the square patty. I prefer the Spicy (irregularly shaped) Chicken.

Brewer's Alley.

Very good beer--and cheap on Wed night happy hours. And the best part is they'll let you hang out and pick up chicks if you are a 15 year old single-speeder. No joke . . . True story.
Same owners also own the Summit Station (Carbon copy of Brewer's Alley) in Olde Gaithersburg. Just keep going past 270 from Klopper Rd after riding Schaeffer. Better directions below.

Best bacon blue-cheeseburger I have ever had. Also a happy hour on Wed. nites. This was to be the post-Schaeffer night ride destination back in October had not mighty Tlaloc (Mayan god of rain) not peed in our collective fruit loops. Let that be a lesson to all of you who would ignore mighty Huachtlitopochtli (Mayan god of blood sacrifice) again during such a great part of the season. Let's see some blood on those chainrings. :D
