I've decided to join the SS bandwagon, so if anybody has an old road bike that would be suitable for a SS-cyclocross conversion, I might be interested. I ride a 17" mtn bike, so I'm guessing 50-52cm would do. I'm looking to do this cheap - so the older and more busted it is, the better.

Don't know if either of these frames would work for you but I have an old 3Rensho frame....54cm and a complete Davidson frame with old Dura Ace. It's also a 54cm though??

Are they "large" for 54cm frames? Measured C-C or C-T? Easiest way to find out is to try them - are you local? And how much would you want for them?

I can measure when I get home from work today. I'm in Baltimore County....and you??
The 3Rensho is frame and fork only...........I used all of the components to build the Davidson.

I'm in Fairfax, VA.
Could you also measure the top tube length of the frames - that tends to be the problem with 54cm frames - I have the standover, but short arms.

No problem. I'll measure and e-mail you back tonight.

Alistair,
Both frames are 54 center to top.
They are also both 53CM top tube lengths C - C.
Hope this helps.

That helps a ton - they should fit me (wouldn't life be so much easier if all bikes were measured the same). I'd like to see the bikes sometime - could you email me you phone # so we can arrange something. I posted my email address above.
