Lordy...
I just learned that the Johnny Depp remake of Willy Wonka will have a scene with 40 trained squirrels. Afterall--chocolate and nuts just naturally go together!

It's scheduled to open July 15th. Guess I'll have to be there for opening night.

That is definitely the icing on the cake. Johnny Depp + Tim Burton + 40 Trained Squirrels + Nuts = Must See Entertainment.

Do you like chocolate?Sheesh! First drevil says I should point out to strangers that I like nuts. Now markie wants to know if I like chocolate.

Like all good red-blooded American (squirrel) girls, I love chocolate!

Cantcha tell? :p

Sorry, it was too easy of a gag for me to resist. It's OK. Where would I be if I didn't provide opportunities for humor for others! <sigh!>

OK, I haven't posted anything for a while, and I absolutely couldn't pass this one up.

In the previews, during the squirrel scene, I thought I heard one of Willy Wonka's lines as:

"Don't touch that squirrel's nuts..."

Yep, there it is on imdb.com

I just got back from the surprisingly brilliant Batman. Willy Wonka was one of the trailers. I had memorised the line, too......

"Dont touch a squirrels nuts"

Looks like your nuts should be safe now squirrel girl. :D

I loved Batman Begins. Of course, maybe as a caver I'm biased. And of course there were several stupid bits: What're you going to do with all that equipment?" "Spelunking. You know, cave diving." Urk. Then there was always making bats look evil. Bats are our friends! I've been watching them flitter around at dusk by my house.

FYI - I took this picture of a bat in India. The bats in VA don't look very much like this one.

Ok, enough rambling. Back to squirrels.

Hmm, I'm not sure.... Untouchable nuts. That doesn't exactly sound like the ideal situation, either.

I read that Burton spent millions of dollars and 2.5 months (http://www.femalefirst.co.uk/entertainment/39732004.htm) to film those squirrels to crack nuts and load them on conveyor belts!

It only took me 5 seconds and no money at all to realise Ricky reads:

No wonder he is always so perfectly groomed.

I saw Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

The squirrels were great. Perhaps overshadowed by the surrealism of the whole movie. But still very good. I won't spoil it for you by giving any details.

I will also note that I was pleasantly surpised to see a very brief scene that included whips. They were making whipped cream. Oh, and there was a preview of the next Zorro movie and I think there might be some whip use in it, too.

You can get the whole theme of the movie if you imagine Johnny Depp imitating Michael Jackson in a candy factory instead of a zoo.

And, there was a cardboard cutout at the theater, and I guess they aren't going to yet again postpone the release of the movie, The Cave. Some friends of mine were the cinematographers for the underwater scenes. So, in spite of it looking like a really stupid movie, I'll be going to it.
