The SM100 map here (http://www.mountaintouring.com/htm/shenandoah_mountain_100/course_map_2002.htm) shows a trail going up to 'Big Bald Knob' from the northeast, and a trail labeled 'Dividing Ridge' descending southeast to the valley just south of the summit.

I was thinking of adding this on to a ride down there this weekend.

Anyone know if this trail is ridable? Looks kinda steep.

Never heard of anyone riding those trails, and the trail to Big Bald looks like it's the Ramseys Wilderness Area.

Oh good point; just confirmed this consulting a USGS quad.

Finally, somebody gets it.

OK then.

I meant to say that that trail looks like the Wilderness boundary. Sometimes the boundary trails are open, like the opposite end of Ramseys. But still never heard of anyone riding to Big Bald

Dividing Ridge is an out and back as once you get to the top it hits the wilderness boundary. Fun, not too steep trail.
