Just bought a new Yakima rack yesterday and I'm having a problem with the wheel fork mounts. Seems like no matter how much I tighten the wing nut I can still fairly easily move the wheel fork. I just don't want it to wiggle it's way down while I'm driving and cause the tire to come in contact with my roof. I was thinking of cutting a rubber strip out of an old tube and putting it between the crossbar and the wheel fork clamps. Maybe that will keep it from slipping? Any other ideas?
Thanks

That's actually a pretty good idea. I have the same problem on long trips and ended up just packing the wheels inside the vehicle. I'm going to dig out those forks when I get home and give it a shot.

There isn't much you can do to keep the forks from moving. I've tried a bunch of different things.
What I suggest is to get a few squares of the flexible magnetic sheeting from a sign shop. Stick that to the roof where the tires would hit. It protects your roof.
I used clear skateboard grip tape on the roof of my car. It is a more permanent solution.
Hope that helps.
