Someone has marked a well worn but previously unmarked (and as far as I know unmaintained - as defined by the map) trail with plain white switch plates screwed to the tree trunks. Kind of looks like a paint swatch from a distance, but I was just curious, do we know who does this? It's interesting also because according to the map this trail is unmaintained, although someone comes along and cuts out falls once in a while. Additionally, on the main trail that runs along the western river bank, right off of Daniels Rd, about 3 miles up, there's a pretty big double fall (1ft in diameter each) right before the railroad tracks. This is a wide flat trail that would be easily accessed by a Park truck. Also if you don't want to drive all the way up it, you can gain access thru a trail from a residential neighborhood at the top of the hill just above the fall, but that one you'll have to walk down.

I'm certain switchplates are not an authorized blazing technique. I'll shout at amy and see what she thinks.
thanks for the heads up.

Any updates on who marks and maintains the while and yellow trails at Daniels? I regularly ride the yellow starting at Rogers Ave, and I'd be willing to help with maintenance.

I don't think it was ever figured out. my best advise is to put a note in a ziplock and attach it to one of the faceplates? or on a log that will likely get cut by the stealth maintainer. say something like, "I really like the work you're doing. I live nearby, benefit from your efforts and thought i would offer to help, please email me at whatever or call me at whatever."
maybe they'll respond. If they do and want to get together to do authorized stuff, great, I'll gladly share all the books I have on proper design, blazing etc and offer any guidance I can. if not, that's cool too, some folks just don't want to come out in the limelight. I can dig it either way.
