Oy folks.

I purchased this frame brand new for a friend who was wanting to build up a bike. He later decided he wanted something else. As a result, I've got a brand spanking new Gary Fisher frame. It was built up with components from the factory, but has since been parted out.

Here's how Gary Fisher Describes the Cake:
"The recipe for Cake was straightforward. Make the best riding all-mountain bike on the trail. It needed to pedal like a race bike, handle drop-offs and downhills like a superhero, and be the lightest bike with all mountain travel. Dead weight doesn't add to any ride, uphill or down.

The Cake is a single-pivot design. Why single pivot? Compared to a VPP, Monolink, or 4bar, the single pivot is stiffer, lighter, easier to adjust and needs less maintenance. Plus, with just one pivot, there's less slop and you get finer response to smaller inputs. The cake is light becase the ZR9000 tubeset is perfectly matched with OCLV Carbon seatstays on the asymetrical swingarm. It's one helluva recipe that results in a bike that pedals better than most 3"-travel bikes and eats bumps better than most 6" travel bikes."

As stated above, it is an 19" frame. Fisher's Genesis Geometry makes for quite long top tubes. The top tube is 24.7" and it is made to run with a 105mm stem. Standover is 31.5".

I'm not sure that I'd take it off any big dropoffs, but with that exception, it is truly an all-mountain bike. It has 5" of travel and is made for a 5" travel fork. This frame is REALLY light. You need to feel it to really appreciate how great this bike will be for climbing.

I'm asking $550 for the frame and shock.

You can either post here, send me an IM or drop me an e-mail ([email protected]) if you've got questions or are interested.

I've never looked closely at this frame until now - what's the deal with the offset chainstays?

Hey Peter,

Wow, that's a beautiful frame. Nice. I'm tempted, but better not, seeing as how I just built up a new Trek Fuel in Jan/Feb. (plus the fact that I've got too many bikes as it is!)

Cheers,

The frame is CAD designed and the stays are positioned to deal with the forces of the suspension design.

5/18/05 >> Nice frame. The off- set stays are similar to what my Kona Kikapu has. The Off-set asym. chain stays help prevent chain slap too. I'm impressed with the curved machined alloy set-up on the shock. It looks like it would create a "nautilus effect" that would give you a more progressive feel in the rear...so how much for this baby?

Can I buy the foot in the top picture?

This frame has been sold. I'm still keeping under consideration, however, certain offers on my toes.
