At a budget meeting yesterday, it was revealed that we (Montgomery County M-NCPPC) are facing the worst budget crisis in our history. Many parks are in danger of being closed, many employees are facing layoffs, which drastically reduces services we are able to provide, and among other things, we at the Park Police are in danger of losing much (if not all) of our mounted unit.
Although I realize that the entire county is in dire straits, it appears that we are being forced to take a much larger percentage of cuts than most other county agencies. The budget must be finalized by May 15th, so now is the time to act!
