Any word on how hard the Virginia trails got hit last week? Any chance of Fountainhead being ridable Thursday or Friday? Anyone want to skip work and ride one of those days?

given that Fountainhead runs around the Ocququan and water levels are still very high, Im going to jump to the conclusion that Fountainhead wont be ridable for a while.

It's supposed to be warm and sunny the next 3 days...so it might be ok by Friday. We are going to try to check it out around 12 on Friday.

if you hit FH on Friday please post a trail conditions report Friday night. I'm sure others (including me!) will want to know if FH (and Laurel Hill) are in ok shape for riding this weekend.

I want to go riding at FH in the AM on Friday If the park says it is open I will go, and report back, but would like to know before then. I don't want to mess the trails but if it is open on Friday and get down there I am riding. I haven't ridden the Dual suspension bike for 3 months.

Wow, nothing like putting yourself first... This is exactly how places get destroyed.
Really can't believe you just made that declaration here...

A couple of things.
1. I think Darren was honestly asking for a trail report. Barring that, he planned to ride if the gate was open and the trail was not marked closed.
2. Unfortunately, because of budget and staff cuts, the Park no longer opens and closes the trail head gate (Unless there is 3 feet of snow) and does not update the ride line. There could be a hurricane pounding and more than likely the FH Gate would be open. FH is now suppose to be a Park where the rider  is suppose to use best judgement in determining trail conditions.

I hope you are right.
But it sure reads like he is riding if the gate is open regardless of the conditions he finds.
Almost blaming the park in advance for his actions if they FAIL to notify the public..
My take, I'm done.

Ahh I thought the line was updated, sometimes they would update it as open, but you really should of waited. I was looking for a report. Don't worry I am not your problem for ruining trails, your problem doesn't usually know that MORE exists. I was talking to a new biker and he thought that mt. bikers love riding in mud.........
Might just do Laural hill if that is better.

Hey, don't know where they'd get that idea. Hmmm... maybe the Subaru add in all the major MTB mags that states something like "Both you and our cars LOVE mud..." and has a picture of a guys shins and feet, his bike and his Subaru completely covered with mud and there on the page is the IMBA logo.

Fountainhead was dry today, and surprizingly without ruts. Might it it up again tomorrow.
