May 31st, 2005, 12:01 AM
Join MORE and the Montgomery County Department of Parks and Planning for our National Trails Day celebration at Hoyles Mill. With your help, we will complete of the final section of the 7+ mile trail linking Schaeffer Farms and Black Hill. The work day will continue following a lunch commemorating the day and celebrating our accomplishments. (See below for RSVP details.)

The current forecast calls for the rain to depart the area tonight leaving behind only a slight chance of scattered showers tomorrow. Give the trails a rest, come out and help finish the last section of trail. Breakfast will be set up by 9 AM. Lunch will be provided and we've got hundreds of dollars in bike schwag to give away compliments of The Bike Lane and College Park Bikes. Also, Drink More Water will the providing water for the day. See below for the last minute details...

The Connector and its anchor parks have brought epic mileage (a 40+ mile circuit) to the area. The trails feature fast single track, rock gardens and stream crossings. The last section will take more of the Connector off-road and add even more surprises to excite any trail user. If you can't wait to check it out, watch the listserv and MORE calendar for groups rides of the existing circuit.

MORE's National Trails Day observance will be focused on the completion of the Hoyles Mill Connector. To get this trail completed, we need your help. Even if you can only give back to your sport just part of your Saturday, come out.

Whole Foods Market, Bike Lane, College Park Bikes, Echo Communications and others are contributing giveaways and food for the event.
Breakfast will be set up by 9:00 AM and lunch, water and snacks will be provided. Come a few minutes early and we'll get started on time.
Bring work gloves, boots and sunscreen. Long pants are recommended because of the brush we'll be making our way through.
Bring your bike for an after work ride of your newly built trail! (The more volunteers, the earlier the ride.)
See below for the meeting location.

To aid in planning the effort and preparing enough food, please RSVP. Please indicate whether you will be with us for all or part of the day and include a phone number should last minute changes to plans become necessary.

May the force be with you,
James Corbett
