Accotink was a mess today. I ended up doing intervals up the pavement to Car. PrkWy. Anything slightly low was mud. Vertical and high stuff was okay, but soft/damp. That makes me think FH will not be dry yet.
It's been a wet winter.

haven't been there, but just driving on Quantico the sides of the roads are swampish, and my yard in Woodbridge is pretty soggy.

Patience - it's about to get real cold for a couple of nights, things may be frozen solid on the early mornings Saturday and Sunday.

Over Chain Bridge, the Potomac River was flowing at one of the highest levels I've ever seen. The bird sanctuary on the MD was totally under water.
Twas rad-awesome!

Convinced my riding partner to go to Laurel Hill. He had never been there before.
Conditions were questionable but rideable.

So I think I know the answer to this, but just in case...
anyone tried to go to FH and have a report?

Probably about 18" still on the ground.
How 'bout PW forest? Did they get the Scenic Loop open yet?

Latest on the park page.
Update: 2.12.2010. The Scenic Drive is open to Turkey Run and "D" parking lots. Oak Ridge Campground and Turkey Run Ridge Group Campground are closed for this weekend for continued snow and downed tree removal. In case of emergencies, please call park dispatch at 1-866-677-6677.

Friday on the way home from work I am going to do a car recon of the scenic loop at PWFP to see if a weekend ride is in order there. I'll post somewhere what I find out.
Apparently the problem clearing the loop is blowdowns across the road. Plow to a tree, take it out, plow to another tree....
