President
Jason Stoner

Over the past two years I have been President, I have helped M.O.R.E. turn around to become one of the stand-out clubs in the country. We have an amazing amount of momentum going into 2010; increasing membership, a more diverse cross section of the biking community joining the club, new trails being built throughout our area, continuing to build long-term relationships with the other user groups as well as gaining trust and credibility with Land Managers. With this increasing momentum I feel it is important to run again in 2010 so continue to build on the club's successes and improve mountain biking for everyone.

Vice President
Jason Miller

I was raised in Northern Virginia and started mountain biking in 1988 with my dad, where we started out on the fire roads of Prince William Forest Park. While attending James Madison University my love for mountain biking was fully realized. From the great terrain for rides, to the support from the local mountain biking community, there was nothing more exciting for me than hitting the trails. After graduation in 1997 I started riding with M.O.R.E. and even held the M.O.R.E. Board position of Virginia-at-Large in 2001.

I have been extremely impressed with the work that M.O.R.E. has done in the past ten years, and believe that the club has even more room for growth. I feel that it is imperative that M.O.R.E., as the official voice of mountain biking of the Washington, DC. Metro area, needs to 1. Increase the size of the club; 2. Get greater involvement and input from existing members; and 3. Develop and improve the relationships of the club (ex. local shops, sponsors, parks management). I believe that working toward these goals will strengthen our voice, and will lead to increased and improved riding opportunities.

I believe in this organization and am committed to these goals, and that is why I am running for MORE Vice President.

Treasurer
Michael Stoll

I am currently the Director of Finance and Operations for the Sheridan School in Washington, DC. I have a very strong non-profit accounting background as well as a long history of working with Boards and Board Committees. In my current job I am responsible for budget preparation and financial reporting. On a monthly basis I am typically preparing a full financial package including a cash flow projection, forecast, balance sheet and statement of activities. My skills are a great match for the Treasurer position.

Secretary/Membership
Anne Mader

I have been on the MORE Board of Directors on and off for about eight years. Over the years I have focused my attention to trail advocacy and fundraising. Last year, I worked with other MORE members to raise about $60,000 for the Fountainhead Project. My goal as Secretary/Membership will be to continue to work on the Fountainhead Project and grant writing as well as help the club's membership grow. As access to trails increase it is imperative to grow our membership and recruit new members. It is also important that members are engaged in the club and become active members of the clubs activities such as leading rides and clinics, advocating for trails, and volunteering for trail maintenance. My goal will be to work with the Board to streamline the membership process and encourage new and current members to be active participants in the club.

VA Advocacy
Frank Raiti

I believe this is a very significant time for mountain biking in general and more notably in our area. In the past two years since I started as Virginia Advocacy Director, we’ve made tons of headway on gaining access to new trails and promoting projects to revitalize existing trail systems and we have grown in credibility as a public land user group. There remain many challenges, such as advanced features and night riding, but in large part, access is no longer the biggest hurdle. We’re now limited more by our own capacity to simultaneously support multiple projects at various stages of maturity. I remain totally excited about our on-going projects such as Fountainhead, Lake Fairfax, Silver Lake, Sully Woodlands, Meadowood, and several others, but my biggest challenge for 2010 will be to expand our club’s capacity to advocate for our sport. I look forward to a great year.

VA at Large
Jim Harman

I have been an enthusiastic supporter of MORE for close to 10 years. As a longtime mountain biker and as the owner of EX2 Adventures, a local race production company, I have both a personal and professional interest in working with land managers and other user groups to ensure access to trails. I have a strong connection to the Northern Virginia area and currently have a wonderful working relationship with many of our local land managers. I hope to serve as an advocate of MORE and all it does for our community.

MD Advocacy

MORE and mountain bikers throughout the country have made great progress over the past decade establishing themselves as responsible trail users and legitimate partners with land managers. As Maryland Advocacy Directory, I would like to build upon this progress locally by strengthening our relationships with both the land managers and our elected leaders. Having served previously for the Governor of Maryland, I am familiar with the legislative, administrative, and budgetary processes of government and while working for the State I helped secure MORE unprecedented state funding. Feel free to email me if you have any questions or want to go for a ride.

I love to ride. I love to introduce new riders to mountain biking and to encourage current riders to get out and get involved. I'm the guy that will call you up on a cold winter morning and tell you to get on your gear, get out your bike, and get ready because I'm coming over in 20 minutes and we are going riding. Mountain biking is my passion, although I've been known to throw a leg over a road bike once in while and I'm giving CX a try this season, I'm a mountain biker. I'm also a husband, father, and sometimes coach. My youngest is now in high school and pretty independent, allowing me a little more time to devote to MORE.

I'm a Towson resident & Loch Raven local, so number one on my list would be to assist MORE and the local riders up here w/saving Loch Raven single-track. I'd like to help increase membership in this area, there are members here, but the potential exists to bring on many more. Loch Raven wouldn't be my sole focus, there are many State Parks throughout central MD that are open to mountain biking or the idea of mountain biking and I'm willing to help MORE where I can. I'd also like to help pull more local bike shops into our efforts and increase the number of skills clinics and member events in this area. I'm a Sr Marketing Manager and could put my marketing skills to use for good rather than evil (my 9to5 corporate life being the evil). I've met a lot of great people through MORE and have attended some very cool events, now I'd like to give back to the club & the mountain bike community.

Joe Whitehair

My name is Joe Whitehair, some of you may know me as riderx on the MORE forums. I'm a long time trail advocate, cycling fanatic and I'm running for the MD At Large position on the Board of Directors.

I've been leading trail days and doing trail maintenance with MORE for the past 7 years. For several years I made large contributions to Patapsco's trail system by planning and organizing trail work, leading trail days, and just plain digging in the dirt. I have served as co-liaison to Gambrill since 2007 while helping turnout big volunteer numbers at Maryland trail building events. This year I helped spearhead efforts in the Frederick Watershed which resulted in us getting permission to cut nearly one mile of new trail for the first time since we've been doing trail work out there. I'm continuing to work with Frederick City staff to expand our efforts of trail improvements and make sure they view mountain bikers as partners and legitimate trail users. As part of this effort I worked with MORE's MD Advocacy Director, Pat Miller, to obtain a $30K RTP grant which we will use to expand upon our Catoctin trail improvement and allow us to blaze and map a 25 mile loop in the Watershed.

If elected to the MD At Large position I intend to continue to advocate for more trail access in Maryland, work with local riders and the club to improve the trails we have. I'll also work to get more riders to join the ranks of MORE to increase our voice in the area. There is power in numbers and as a club we've done a great job to date. I want to help continue to push us forward.

If you have any questions about trail issues, projects or what I hope to do for the club in general, feel free to email me at joewhitehair AT yahoo DOT com. I also encourage you to talk to others I have worked with on trail projects and see what they have to say about my contributions.
