hi,
i am thinking about upsizing my front rotor from 160 mm to 180 mm on my ellsworth ephiphany (5.25" travel bike). My front fork is a Fox F120 RLC w/ the 15mm QR thru axle. I have formula oro k24 brakes (which are awesome). Question: Has anyone noticed a huge improvement by doing this? Also, how fast do the larger rotors generally go out of true? Will i have to adjust the rotor before every ride?

I ran 7" front and 6" rear on my Ellsworth Moment for a couple of years. Upped to 8" and noticed better braking. Finally went 8" front and rear and the bike really came to life.

I run 7" front and rear on my 29er SS and I have too much rear braking. Might downsize to 6"

The bigger rotors certainly make a difference. I have never had any issues with rotors going out of true. Only time I ever had one even slightly out was after a crash when the rotor took a bit of a hit.

You just need the new rotor and the proper adapter for the caliper. Once installed you have to go through the bedding in process again which essentially means your braking will not be so great for the first 3-10 miles. So don't be surprised if you upsize the rotor and it initially feels even weaker than before.

I switched to 185mm on my front wheel. It made a huge diffence such that my associated confidence boost had me cleaning stuff I had previously been intimidated by. I did this when living in Front Royal and my rides at E Furnace improved significantly. I'd go 205mm front 185 rear but Fox and Ellsworth recommend against. 2002 Fox Vanilla, 2005 Ellsworth Truth. Do it.

great, thanks for the advice guys. I will give it a shot.
BTW, im ordering this adapter for my 2010 Fox F120 RLC fork post mount to my Formula Oro K24 post mount, is it the correct one?

Yes that should work. The Shimano adapter should work as well and is a whole lot cheaper:
