hi,
i was looking into getting a new water bottle cage for mt biking and had a few options to select from:

http://harriscyclery.net/page.cfm?PageID=49

WC4600 Zipp Carbon Bottle Cage for Standard Bottles 21g
WC9195 Elite Pase Carbon Cage, Black
WC5000 FSA K-Force Carbon Bottle Cage with Bolts
WC4602 Alpha Q Carbon Prolite Cage for Standard Bottle 18
WC1614 Profile Design KK-3 Karbon Cage Black 18 Grams
WC1612 Profile Design KK-1 Karbon Black Karbon with Silver Accent 33 Grams
WC1606 Profile Design Karbonlite Cage Black 29 Grams
WC1617 Profile Design KK-4 Karbon Cage Black 20 Grams

Has anyone used any of these cages for mt biking? I was also thinking of mounting them on the bottom of the downtube with this cable tie since i only have 1 downtube mount:

I know that carbon cages can get scratched from rocks/etc, so im not looking on advice regarding that. Just wondering if anyone found that some seemed to hold the bottle much stronger than another.

Thanks,
Ian

I use a cheap ($30 on sale) carbon cage from performance. It holds the bottle fine, but it does get scratched when you do muddy/sandy races. Just look at the outside of your bottles! I have only used it one season but it is holding up. They are 25-30 grams.

Doug,
Thanks for the advice. I currently use some carbon cages from Perfomrnace, but wanted to see if anyone else has found the other cages that i have found to be as good. I do think the performance ones are super strong, so i might just end up going w/ those again. although, they dont have the cool logo on the side. maybe i can just permanent marker the performance logo away. :)

I used a cheap carbon one from performance, it broke in half when I used it to hold the battery to my light during the bakers dozen.

I've used a few different carbon cages. The only ones that I found that I like on the MTB are the Arundel Dave-O cages. Even with that, I don't put a battery in them. I switched back to King Cages and am happy with that choice.

I used some old blackburns on MSB this weekend and they shook and rattled all day long. Held the bottles though.

I like the bat cage which is light weight, very tough, and holds bottles securely. I have two of them on my road bike, but used them on the MTB before going to a Camelbak. I'm sure any local Trek dealer can get these.

I like my 7$ cage from performance 1 on my MTB and 2 on my roadbike. Works just fine.
