Looks fresh, maybe from the winds on wed. No ride around yet, I walked real wide to prevent starting one.

or you can hop over this one....nice approach from both sides, it's a great one to practice on.
There's an even bigger one that has the double bonus of being a: up off the ground a bit(gap underneath it) and b: at a nice angle to the trail. It's also clean-able. I think it was over on the nacho-mama section of trail that leads into the horse farm loop.
Learning to get over huge logs is a valuable skill that translates to all kinds of riding. It's worth the time invested to teach ones self how to do it.
Yay logs.
Boo ride-arounds. (unless you are a careful bushwacker, then it's ok)

Right by Cascade Falls, this tree is hanging by a thread. Needs an experienced chainsaw operator to remove.

Amen! This is a great log to hop over and a good "starter" big log. Unfortunately it will have limited life in chainsaw happy Patapsco.
For the time being if you can't get over the log on your bike (for whatever reason)- just get off your bike, step over it, and ride off - no reason to widen or create new trail for this.
And be careful out there - The other day I heard and then saw a massive limb drop
