With the poor economy the way it is, The Missile decides to come out of retirement and picked up a new line of work: pharmaceuticals. (http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/more_sports/2009/06/17/2009-06-17_mountain_biker.html)

Giove, who sported a punk hair-do during her competitive riding days, rode with a dead piranha around her neck - to remind her to be aggressive - and the ashes of her deceased dog tucked inside her sports bra.Classy! "Trafficking" might be a bit much though. She probably intended on smoking all 400 lbs herself. :D

Yeah, I pretty much cringed at that one when I read it.
400lbs is a large quantity, although it wouldn't be hard to imagine Missy killing the whole she-bang herself. Who's next? Palmer? Vouilloz?

Doping. She's doing it right, and doing it old skool. I wonder if this was part of some Cannondale "Go Green" campaign? Or perhaps she got the "Gravity Games" confused with "Gravity Bong Games"? :D

sometimes you gotta hand it to our gov't for enforcing some truely stupid and arbitrary rules. An NFL player kills a pedestrian whilst driving drunk --> 30 days in prison and 1000 hrs community service and no lisence ever again.... For Missy, who possessed copious amounts of a glorious plant --> up to 40 years prison.
The federalis should follow in the footsteps of Massachussetts and Cali, time to decriminalize....

But on the other hand, she had to know that being caught with 400 freaking pounds of it would be kind of a Bad Thing.
And decriminalization in the US generally covers small amounts of pot for personal use. I don't think 400 lbs falls into that category. :) She'd be in deep doo-doo in Cali and Mass as well.

Very true.... decriminalization tends to be at an ounce or less... Obviously Missy knew she would be up the river if she were to get caught.
While I think the arguements for legalization tend to be dumb... imagine if the gov't taxed Missy at $50/oz on that 40 lbs? That's a cool $320,000 off our deficit, and voids the 'large amounts of tax-free profit' arguement. I believe this type of legislation has been discussed for the large dispenseries and grow-ops in CA.

How are they dumb?
In my opinion, your tax example is very good justification, and that is not dumb if it reduces local, state, and/or federal deficits.
There are, of course, the people that just want to get high, and their immediate justification may not be as compelling, but there are plenty of legitimate reasons that legalizing marijuana would be beneficial. Increased tax revenue, reduced costs for court appearances, millions upon millions of dollars in reduced incarceration expenses, alleviating viloence from Mexican Drug cartels and street level dealers, and medical benefits for cancer and other disease patients.

Unfortunately, Uncle has not found a way to control production and distribution (anyone can grow it), and the pharma lobbyists on the Hill would stand to lose a LOT of money if people with life altering disabilities could simply produce their own 'medications'.
Personally, I don't see the mj debate being much different than prohibition.
The cartels will still have cocaine to kill each other over, so leave Mexico out of things.

Guess she won't be at the Showshoe race this weekend. She's usually there. Last year she crashed on the road gap, so she still isn't afraid to go for it. Funny thing I saw her age was 37 on the news report. Man I thought she was in her mid 40's based on how she looks.
400 pounds is pretty bad, you obviously plan on doing some serious drug trafficking or dealing with that much. Doubt she'll get 40 years, but you'll definitely see some serious jail time with that amount

The general procedure for busts like this is to threaten the bust-ee with huge sentences and fines in an attempt to get them to flip on whoever is higher up the food chain. If she cooperates and gives them something useful, she gets the chance to plea to reduced charges and gets a much more minimal sentence. Who knows though, sometimes the cops like to make an example of higher profile people, or she doesn't want to cooperate or doesn't know anything useful... I'd bet shes going to be seeing the inside of a jail cell for a decent period of time no matter what.
Kind of a shame. You'd think someone with that kind of win record wouldn't need the money that badly. Maybe she just enjoyed the risk. :confused2:

400 lbs?!?!?! That's a boatload of ganja.
Under federal mandatory minimum sentencing guideline:
LEVEL 1:
>220lbs gets you 5, but you get 10 with an existing previous felony drug conviction
LEVEL 2:
>2200 lbs gets you 10, but you get 20 with a prior felony drug conviction and, drumroll please, you get to kiss the baby, that's right: life if you have two prior felony drug convictions.

wife: tough day hun, ya want to talk about it?

Sounds like a probable stoner story.
Missy: Yeah, I totally had the munchies. So, like, I went out to stock up on Pop Tarts, Twinkies, and Doritos, and when we came back, we were like, whoa! There's like 400 lbs of ganj here man! And, like, that's when 'the man' showed up.
Cop: Hey, are you going to eat those Twinkies?
Missy: Whaa?

Damn... it looks like beer for awhile.
The streets of Va. are safer now that we got a bunch of weed off the streets. No drive-by shootings, no elicit sex for drugs, no more homeless drug addicts, no more home burglaries. Yea... stopping a bunch of pot smokers is going to have an impact on the quality of life?!?!

Well, I'm sure at least Tommy Chong can sympathize. The feds ( under John Ashcroft) sent him away for 9 months to federal prison for distributing drug paraphernalia; As part of Operation Pipe Dreams, (not to be confused with Operation Headhunter), Chong agreed to plead guilty to one count of conspiracy to distribute drug paraphernalia in exchange for non-prosecution of his wife, Shelby, and his son, Paris in connection with glass bong sales under the Chong Glass/Nice Dreams brand. Chong fully cooperated with the government and was the first of the Operation Pipe Dreams defendants to plead guilty.

I would now expect every 7-11 owner to be promptly arrested for selling rolling papers, and every hardware shop owner to be arrested for selling faucet screens.

Maybe back then, but who knows about now?
But I would have also added that I would have expected pizza delivery services to be prosecuted as well, as they could have been seen as clearly aiding and abetting the horkage of bongalicious tubuality-----Legal terms of art, I swear!!!
