Okay, being the new guy, I'm having trouble remembering everyone's name and face. Actually, that's a lie - even if I wasn't new, I'd have trouble, since I'm absolutely crap with names and faces.
So if you have the time, motivation, and the willingness to humour me, let's have a bit of a roll call. I'll even start...
Name: Gary
From: Cork City, Ireland
People call me: Gaz, Irish, "For God's sake, keep going you lazy bastard"
Usually riding: Riding's a subjective word. A small black Ellsworth Isis...
Pic: Sure. I'm the one on the right. Beer in hand. As usual.

I've been riding around here for a few years, but recently joined up with M.O.R.E. Did my first night ride at Fountainhead last week and met a few people (Peter, SquirelGirl) and had a blast. I'm usually found at Gambrill, Avalon, Schaffer and occasionally Fountainhead. Look for the blue Lancer with an all black anodized Stumpy strapped on the back, along with a few Democratic bumperstickers :p .

That was taken 8 weeks after running three marathons in 2 months. I was trying to qualify for Boston that year. I did so on the third try. It totally blew my training routine and I was still flat by the time Boston rolled around. I had a decent race, but not what I was hoping for.
Ahhh... that's a blast from the past for me. I thought I'd vanquished those memories.
Oh yeah... Another contributing factor was that I'd been hitchhiking through Central America for about 7 weeks leading up to that photo taking. The Magic bag is my luggage for that trip.
Ahhhh the bad old days. ;)

This picture was taken in 1994 in Oaxaca, Mexico. I'm diving a rebreather in a cave where the underwater section starts 840 m below the entrance to the cave.

I think yours is much more flattering. I kinda have that "I just ate bad guacamole" look. You've got the whole sci-fi thing going on.

Been a memeber of MORE for awhile now but not real active.
I'm usually at Wakefield or Fountianhead. You guys might have seen my Black Xterra with the big 35" tires and a snorkel at Wakefield. I don't drive that too much anymore due to the gas prices (10 mpg = expensive). I have an 02 outback that I drive now.

Yikes! Part of my job is helping Americans hitchhiking through Central America (or their next of kin) deal with their misadventures. It's not always a friendly neighborhood down there...

You remember what El Salvador and Honduras were like in 1987? That's when that photo was taken.

This "Chit Chat" forum is a nice idea, but I really think this thread belongs as a sticky in The Pit.

Out of all the posts I've slapped on these boards, this is one of the few that I did think was relevant to MTB, since I didn't know too many folks by name/sight at the rides! I do find it funny though that in the new chit chat section (great idea!) most of the threads are mine - shows you where MY head is! ;)

You're welcome. :D I need it today too. I guess that's why I've been on board a bit more than lately. I need a vacation.
13 days Jason?
As a side note, Martin... I'm bummed that you fixed the polls so we can only vote once now. I kind of enjoyed bumping up the numbers for my favorite pole selection in the past. Wasn't it the "What's your favorite trail" pole that had more than 600 votes? How could that have happened?
Frondly,
Pete

I had to...
Next time around, when Board elections come up we'll have a members only forum to vote for your fav candidate - we just didn;t want any hanging chads lurking over our head ;)

I was hoping for a 1920's Chicago style election.... you know... Vote Early, Vote Often.
I guess those days are gone. *Hanging my head with thoughts of a simpler time*

I'm one of the worst offenders here. I often make irreverent comments and get sidetracked. I'm also not the only one. It would be nice to have the roll call listed without having to sort through the non-picture/bio comments. But whether it's in one Forum or another doesn't make any difference to me.

Yeah - this thread has ceased to become what I wanted it to be!! If the thread were kept to just introductions of folks on the trail, I would say it belongs in the Pit. But once it gets into banter, like every thread on here (!) then...
Ara's idea is a good one - let this thread die, and stick a new thread either here or in the pit, but with the caveat to keep it to SINGLE posts where you introduce yourself?

Done Deal.
The Roll Call Thread stays in Chit Chat. I will, however "stick it" so it stays at the top. And, following Gaz's suggestion will make it only about Roll Call - no banter...
If you stray of track then you get negative reputation... With that said, here's the new Roll Call Thread:
