I've got a '07 Giant Trance 2 and love it. Now I want a new toy. Have $1,300.00 as my contribution to the economy or a MORE members pocket, which ever comes first.
Looking for a new ride. I'm 5'7, 165 lbs. in pretty athletic shape and my Giant's a large. I'm an aggressive rider and frequent Schaeffer, Rosaryville and the roads on DC.
Thoughts on a bike or anyone have anything that might give me the fix I'm looking for?
Thanks for the help in advance.

Whats wrong with the Trance? Those are pretty nice bikes, and its going to be difficult to find something nicer for $1300.
My first question is what you are looking for thats different from the Trance. Are you going to sell it and upgrade, or are you looking for something to complement it?

Well, he's 5'7" and he's riding a large. Might want a bike that fits :)

Well, there is the Gary Fisher Rig SS for about $1300. Try 29er AND SS for the $1300. Good bike for the money and good for the places you listed that you ride.
And, TOTALLY different than the Trance.
It's VERY hard to beat the Trance for what you pay. I rode one for two years.
The Bike Lane in Burke, VA. has a 17" version on the floor. I do not know who deals GF in MD.

If your interested I was about to put a 2006 medium team Scalpel up for sale. It has a set of Stans race wheels and a new 08 fox RLC fork on it. The rest are stock items, which are all high end bits. My thriteen yr. old daughter (5'-6") raced it for two seasons. I was going to put it on e-bay for $1500. If anyone who's a MORE member is interested I'll sell it to them for less. It would def. fit you better than a large.

I have a 2007 Haro Mary SS that you'd love. Fully rigid, mostly stock with a few upgrades, including thompson seatpost, brand new cane creek s3 headset, ritchey stem, oury grips, KMC SS chain. It's the slick copper color one. I'm about 5'9" and usually ride a medium on most bikes. This is a 16" frame and fits perfectly, as the standover height on these badboys is a bit high. The 18" would be way too big for you. The mary bars are a ton of fun, and this beast is perfect for schaeffer, rosaryville, patapsco. It's in very good condition (not perfect, though...usually chain rub). I love it, but (sadly) need to shed one bike. This is a perfect rig to test your chops on SS, 29er, and/or rigid since the price is so moderate.
I'll sell it for $650, which would leave you with plenty of cash for other projects or upgrades. Let me know if you want pics. Thanks.
