So FH probably dried out pretty well last week but we had some medium level precipitation Sunday and Monday....

Anyone care to venture on when FH might be rideable?

Maybe Wednesday, maybe not. It's hard to judge since the green stuff should be starting to drink it up again. It is raining a decent bit here in Annandale/Burke tonight.

If the rain later in the week is light it should be okay by the weekend.

I might be out at FH with a few people surveying the SAB area. I really doubt it'll dry up by then, though. :nope: There's a 50% chance of precipitation on Thursday and then clear/sunny from Friday until next Monday. I'm hoping for a climatic miracle.

A pretty accurate indication of FH's ridability would be taking a few steps into the entrance. If your shoes leave an imprint, chances are there might be plenty of wet spots in the lower, less easily drained, rutted out parts of the trail.
:flushed:

BTW: I just got home and it's steady, light rain in Lorton right now.

Anyone been out their this weekend? I was planning to go this afternoon, but I want to make sure it's worth it first.

no, but reports from Laurel Hills were good, so I suspect FH is good, too.

Rode today (4/8) and everything was fine. A few muddy spots towards the end by the river, but nothing terrible.

We sessioned FH this afternoon, conditions were optimal within the first loop. Trails were tacky, dry, a few wet spots noting major, no standing water or outright mud. There were a few sections which still were covered in last fall's leaves, some of which absorbed moisture--took out my front wheel, now my left elbow and left palm are bruised black and purple. Wait...where was I? Oh yeah, get out there and ride!!
