View Full Version : Anyone dealt with Turner for warranty issues?

So, the rear triangle on my RFX broke yesterday while I was just riding along. That's not to say that the bike hadn't seen some substantial stress. The break was on the non-drive side.
Has anyone had experience with their warranty support? Suggestions? I have a call in to them, I figure I'll get a call back Monday.

Turner is real good with warranty. If you need to go with a shop, Plum Grove is a dealer.
Also, If you broke it yesterday (saturday) and called them I doubt they are in, might want to give them a business day or two to respond.

I figured they were not in. I called to ask what information they would need to initiate a warranty claim (serial #'s, pictures, circumstances, etc.).
Thanks for the info about Plum Grove. I'm in G-burg, and it might be easiest to get across the river than into the city.
It's funny, I was thinking about starting a thread last week asking if anyone had experience dis-assembling the rear triangle, because I was considering cleaning the moving parts. I guess I'll get the chance to do it now.

Once you get the swingarm sorted out, they have pretty good maintenance "how-to" instructions and videos on their site...or at least they used to.

I've dealt w/ then on little things (bushings etc) but I've never broken one. They (IMO) have the best CS in the business. Hopefully they will take care of you.
How old is the frame?

Hmmm. That's officially out of the three year warranty range. It will be interesting to see what they do.

It will be interesting. I'll keep you posted. After I take the splint off (yes, it got splinted) I'll post some good photos. I've only got field photos that aren't in great focus because the camera I bring w/ me is a POS. Yueq, Denis, you have a better photo?

Turner is well known for their customer service. The downside is that the bike is fairly old (outside the standard warranty) and its a horst model. I'm fairly sure that Turner no longer has horst parts, so any replacement would have to be of both the seatstay and chainstay, switching the bike to the TNT (single pivot).
Still, I imagine they will do their best to take care of you.

Jabs, you're the one who sold me on the 5-spot. Ending up w/ a RFX was just the way it worked out.
I have to say, even if I only got a year out of that bike (I bought it used, obviously) I've enjoyed every single ride on it. I wouldn't change it even w/ the broken frame.
(Thanks for the pictures, Denis.)

Obviously the work of a trained professional. I'm glad it was the bike and not my leg needing Aaron's splinting:

They're shipping a replacement seat stay today. It is used, but looks to be in good shape. Greg asked if ground shipping was ok.

I gotta say that this is one of the reasons I buy Turners. Second owner and out of warranty and they hook you up. Nice! Everything breaks, but you'll have a lot more peace of mind if a company like Turner is standing behind it.

Here's one completely satisfied customer.
I was disassembling the rear triangle last night, and the left side rocker was broken.
I called them today, and asked them about it. Those parts are in the mail, too. Damn good service.

Yeah, but two broken parts? WTF? Did it happen when the other part broke?

Well, I didn't exactly notice (or more exactly comprehend) that the frame was broken right away. :confused2:
So perhaps there was some undue strain. I did also ride it out with Aaron's splint.
I've also accused all the people I ride with regularly of running over my bike with a car and not telling me about it. But that hasn't resulted in anyone admitting it. :o
