OK....wasn't out there but an email came across one of the bike groups I'm on and it said the FH status line said it was open. Can this really be the case given the amount of chatter about avoiding trails this weekend and into next week a bit?

Yes - This was brought up a few months ago. The MTB portion of the recording never changes (Or wasn't going to change while the Park was winterized - I can't remember). The Park decided that they couldn't maintain it and that riders should show best judgment when they get out on to the trails.

I have nightmares about this.

Tom and I will be meeting on Monday and hopefully we can talk about options for the recording.

has anyone ridden fountain head in the past week? If so, what are the conditions? I'm thinking about heading there Saturday but if it's muddy I don't want to mess up trails, could save myself a trip

It was fine at noon today (Wednesday). Good to go. Rain will kill it quickly though.
