VentureQuest
The four of you who have already volunteered to help with VentureQuest may ignore my final plea for help. For the rest of you, this is your chance to offer MORE help!
VentureQuest is hosted by the Hemlock Overlook Center for Outdoor Education (a cooperative effort of George Mason University and the Northern Virginia Regional Park Authority) and is billed as "Northern Virginia's Premier Adventure Race". The event will take place this Sunday, October 6, with the MTB portion of the event taking place on the Fountainhead MTB Trail.
MORE benefits from our sponsorship of the MTB portion of this event by fostering a good relationship with NVRPA (they make decisions that directly impact MTB access) and encouraging VentureQuest participants to embrace Mountain Biking through membership in MORE.
MORE has been asked to provide volunteers for the event. MORE volunteers will serve as Course Marshals for the MTB portion of the event. Course Marshals will be expected to attend a briefing on Sunday morning (tentatively scheduled to commence at 8:30AM), post to their appointed places along the course by 9:30AM in order to provide limited assistance and directions to event participants and remain there until the MTB portion of the event completes, approximately 1PM. Following event completion, Course Marshals will sweep the course to remove signage.
Bring your bike, food and water.
This is my final plea for assistance. With VQ less than a week away, I'm not above unabashed begging. If you're able to assist, please respond to Stu Moulton.
