I'm looking to try something a little different on my cross bike. Currently, I have the Origin 8 Tiki bar, bar-end shifters, and regular brake levers mounted up toward the front/sides of the bars. The brakes are cantilever, if that makes a difference.
Anyway, I'm thinking I would like to try either dual control brakes/shifters or some other kind of non-bar-end shifter.
Has anyone tried dual control brakes/shifters on bars like the Tiki Bar? Or, does anyone else have any other ideas?

I'm not big on reaching way down to shift.

Paul Components has a converter to make bar end shifters into thumb shifters.

If it's a cross bike, why not use STI shifters? You can pick up a used set of 10spd ultegras for a reasonable amount of money. But you'd have to change your bars, WTB dirt drops possibly?

I'd go STI (dual control) as well. They might not work so well on the Tiki bar though. I have the Origin 8 Gary bar (http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_vQP-DMkG-5Y/Rgj48SORxxI/AAAAAAAAAYs/1vXCWftDfGU/s1600/ergon,garybar%2B005.jpg) on my SS cross bike and I like it a lot. The angle might not be too bad for STI levers.

My geared cross bike has the Salsa Moto bar and I'd like it better with more sweep. The WTB dirt drops that Source suggested will be my next bar for that bike. Dirt drops and STI would be a killer combo.

Thanks for the info, guys! Those Dirt Drop bars look like a pretty sweet option.
