Dear friends of Shenandoah Mountain Touring,
We would like to take this opportunity to thank those of you who took a bicycle tour or attended our events during the 2010 season. You made it such an enjoyable season! Results and pictures from our 2010 events can be found on our website. We hope that each of you had a great time with us this past year, and we hope to see you all in 2011 or before. Another HUGE special thanks to the sponsors and all of those great folks who came out and volunteered at our events. You make it happen!
A few very important things are happening in the Mid-Atlantic cycling community we wanted to make sure you are aware of:
1) SVBC's Shenandoah Mtn Bicycle Festival this weekend at the Stokesville Campground - ONLINE registration closes this evening. Saturday night dance party and amazing weather for all those who can make it.
2) Bicycle access to the IMBA Epic ride on North Fork Mountain Trail in West Virginia is threatened by a pending Wilderness Bill. We are hosting an awareness ride with SVBC and CAMBC on Sunday Oct 17th. IMBA has the info you need to help keep this trail system open to bicyclists. Please write your representative, take a look at this amazing slideshow from the ride and come join us on Oct 17th! Bonus ride on the IMBA Epic Spruce Knob area trails and IMBA party on Oct. 16th if you can get it together for the whole weekend. Ride weekend details are HERE on the save the North Fork blog.
3) MORE's MoCo Epic is also happening on Oct 17th. This amazing advocacy fundraiser still needs a few volunteers - INFO HERE
The sold out 2010 Shenandoah Mountain 100 was a dream day for many. A cool, clear, and super fun day to ride your bicycle ALL DAY LONG! The Dogfish Head Alehouse beer kept flowing right up to the last finisher. Please thank them so they will continue to support the SM100 by e-mailing them or stopping in one of their Alehouse's in Gaithersburg, Fairfax or Falls Church, what a wonderful event beverage! Here is a link to some pictures in case you haven't seen them yet: Bob Popovich - Ron Spillers - Kate Hoof and our own SM100 gallery collage using some of their pictures and lots of our own..
We still have a few "Lost-and-Found" items leftover from the SM100 as well. A black LL Bean fleece, black baselayer, red fleece, polar HR head with a short velcro strap and one very small DCMTB arm warmer). If you are missing these, please email us and we can get them back to you.
