I have a mountain cycle rumbe singlespeed that is a burly burly bike that I can let go for $350.00 (thinning the herd) build up is basic (vbrakes- not disk) but good.

Chainlove's got a Brodie Brute DJ bike for $721. Sadly, it's ending in less than 3 mins. Size 14. Gun metal grey. Complete bike. :(
X.7 drivetrain, Hussefelt cranks, 2.5 nevegals, Hayes 9 stoppers, Marz DropOff, and 1 yr warranty.

Thanx for the heads up.Unfortunately 400 is all I can spend.I was hoping to get an older "has been" dj with decent components. All the DJ components are foreign to me. Im learning on the fly.I should have had one years ago.I saw a specialized P sell recently that I should have jumped on (no pun intended). :p

If your budget is absolutely $400 and under, than buying used is your best bet. If you're looking locally, a lot of the DJers are on RideDC. I'm sure you'll have better luck there as there's not a lot of DJ guys on here (I could be wrong).

Just remember that when buying a used jump bike you have to assume it's been abused, unless you know how the seller rides. Make sure to check for cracks everywhere: frame, fork, etc before taking flight.

not my rumble its been ridden by an old man as a trailer puller and tfk bike for kids rides. I've been told the frames a great dj bike I just tend to stay on the ground.

I didn't mean to say you had trashed yours, I referring to the bikes for sale over on rideDC.com.
Are you still interested in that Thomson post?

Don't be afraid of a used jump bike. They tend to be way overbuilt, so they can take some serious abuse before they fail. Do check out any used bikes in person though.
With a budget of $400, definitely lurk on the classifieds of ridedc and ridemonkey. You see used bikes go up for sale pretty frequently. In fact, I wouldn't pass on a regular sized frame if I were you (as opposed to long). Lots of guys 6 feet + ride regular frames, and they are going to be more common than long frames.

now that I think about it riding with a trail-a-bike at 495 may be hard on the frame - it was certainly hard on me.:D I was going through my stuff this weekend and found 2 - 30.9 posts so I got rid of my shimmed 27.2 seatpost and am good to go. thanks though

Deff look up bikes on RideDC and Ridemonkey. They're everywhere there. As for the parts, most of the time it's just very similar stuff to what you're already accustomed to. I've recently built up a sort of beater DJ bike (post pics eventually) and used some BMX parts, such as cranks, on it.

Thanks all. Im pretty sure I found one. Im supposed to go get it this weekend. I registed and tried to post on Ridedc but was unsuccessful. Now I just have to learn how to pump transitions without suspension to rely upon.Cant wait.
