I figured it would all be frozen. This was almost true. It was frozen in shady spots but as the day went along stuff thawed. While nothing was boggy there were defiantly some soft patches later in the day. Morning and afternoons here should be nice and solid however. It was odd to see dirt bike tracks on the orchard loop, but it looks like there has since been some signage placed.

Are you serious? It thawed today? Hey, Dan Hudson, what did you put on that trail, fire rock? ;)

Wow, that amazes me. Maybe the recycled concrete generates some heat or something when mixed with water. Regular concrete I believe does that.

No magic - our Sun is a powerful thing. I'd guess you might find melting in other areas that get uninterrupted daylight; Wakefield powerlines, R'ville field areas, etc.

it was the same thing for the giles run trail.. some soft melting spots, others frozen solid. there were alot of frozen rutted spots (pretty bad in some spots) where it was obvious people have been riding them when not dry.

We had spots in out parking lot at work (Qauntico) that were frozen all day long, even sitting out in the sun.

The various ponds on the compound were also frozen on the top.
