Schaeffer Trails Opening Jan 14 During Cold Weather
The Schaeffer Farm trail system will open at dawn on Wednesday, Jan 14, and will remain open during daylight hours as long as the ground stays frozen. Based on current weather forecasts, the trails are likely to stay open through the Martin Luther King weekend, i.e. until Jan 19th or 20th. Trails will likely be closed again when daytime high temperatures reach the high 30's or 40 degrees. Trails typically stay closed through about March 20 except during very cold periods such as the one we are about to experience.
