I have an old Bontrager Race Lite with a 1" steerer tube. Front Marzocchi fork just doesn't seem to be too good. Can't dial it in, seems to either be too squishy or too firm no matter what I try...

1 1/8" is now the standard so I am kinda screwed on a new fork. :confused2:

Does anyone make a 1" steerer tube suspension fork? Or maybe one with a replaceable Steerer tube where I could replace a 1 1/8" steerer tube with a 1" steerer tube and shim?

I have an old Race Lite and I have a 1998-ish manitou sx ti fork. Any old fork with a bolt-on crown will do you. I don't ride that bike off-road anymore though.

Good luck. Look for an older Judy, Manitou sx...

Marzocchi forks, like most others, are very sensitive to the amount of oil that are in the fork. My old Marzocchi's (coil spring, 3" travel XC forks) completely sucked when they had either too much or too little oil in them. You might try servicing them and replacing the oil with something clean and see what happens. Just be careful to follow the directions on setting the oil level very carefully. I used to use an old spoke to measure oil level in the fork legs.

Once I got mine set up right they worked wonderfully and still do.

Good luck. Hopefully that will help a little.
