View Full Version : Saddle Question

I just picked up a cross bike. The saddle feels very different than that on my Trek MTB. I still need to make sure the height and fore-aft are correct, but since my main use will be on the road will I have problems if I use a saddle designed for a MTB on a cross (or even a road) bike? I'm assuming :hammertime: a saddle is a saddle is a saddle. I know what works for one doesn't always work for another.
I guess it's time to get another under seat bag for the tube and patches and stuff.
Thanks,
Bruce

Not sure how you plan to ride the cross bike, butt for me long 3+ hour spins on a road bike seated leaves me wanting a road oriented saddle with less give.
For MTB riding which is bumpier, has more stops, involves much more time out of the saddle I prefer a bit more padding and give.
Saddles are like tires in that there are dozens of great choices and everyone has a favorite. Here is what I like for me.
Road: Specialized Toupe Gel
MTB: WTB Laser V SLT

Having tried 6 different under the seat bags on an MTB and completely abandoned them after having every single one bust open and dump $30-$50 worth of stuff all over the trail never to be seen again...
Put the seat bag on the crossbike and keep your stuff in your hydro when you MTB.
I am a slow learner (6x is just stupid). Don't be like me.
