Hi,
Can anyone tell me about their experience with servicing their DT Swiss hubs? I am contemplating purchasing a pair of their hubs, but after reading their owners manual, I am not sure how serviceable they are. I also noticed that the hubs require special and expensive tools to work on them. Are those tools necessary for cleaning out and servicing the freewheel mechanism? Also, has anyone had experience with dealing w/ their customer service?

I haven't had to service them but I know their CS is good. I cracked the hub body and they sent me a replacement. Call them up as opposed to emailing them.
I haven't used the replacement yet - I'll sell you a new rear 240 6 bolt pattern for $175.

I had a 240 for several years. the freehub maintance is dead simple. You simply pull the freewheel off (the cassette comes w/ it) and clean/lube the star mechanism and put it back together.
Replacing the bearings would obviously be a lot more difficult; perhaps that's where the special tools come in?
