When it starts to creak and loosen, can I point and laugh derisively? ;)

Absolutely.
I don't mind creaking. I don't think it will loosen. At least I hope not. My frame threads are a bit messed up though. I'll try to get it installed without further damage.
Someone in the past cross threaded a bottom bracket cup.

That is, without a doubt, the dumbest headset design I've ever seen.

At a glance, it looks very similar to Shimano HT2 bb, any difference besides the obscene amount of bling?

I'm eagerly awaiting the bearings in my shimano external bb failing...I've killed a pair. They are pretty cheap to replace though.

I've gone through a few. I was after the bling and CK customer service.
Also would be cool if these last as long as their headset.

You realize you'll have to clean the mud off in order for people to see it don't you?

For the money, that thing should be self cleaning or have some sort of force field around it that deters mud, dirt, sand, grit, water, whatever... And, chicks had better dig it!

If it lasts the way I expect it will, it will probably pay for itself in a couple of years. Time will tell.

My M960 BB offically hit the can after 24 Hours of Big Bear. Had some Phil Woods pressed in by TBL no issues and smooth as butter. No bling though.:confused2:

Not when you're replacing it w/ a CK! :oIf they are as reliable as their headsets, probably still the cheapest option in the long run. ;)

What color is that? It looks violet. Does it match your beast?

Does anyone ride the same dually bike for more than ~3-4 years? I could see putting that on at Ti hard tail or some classic "keeper" bike, but so far, I can't see a dually lasting more that 3-4 years before the rider want's something different/newer/better.
Of course, you could pull that sucker and put it on the next bike.
Of course, he's got an Elsworth... so that's probably good for a lot longer.

My Ellsworth is a 2005 I think. I'll ride it until I finally break it. Which try as I might, hasn't happened ... yet.

I seem to go through a set of bearings at least once per year. The Chris King bottom bracket has a 5 year warranty. It should pay for itself in the long run. Even better would be no having to hassle with repairs so often.

Not out yet, I don't think. I will likely get it when it does come out.

I think my NRS is a 2003 (?), but then again, I've probably only done one mtn bike ride in the past 6-8 months, and that was on my GT hardtail... I'm just too cheap to buy different / newer / better. Very un-American, I know...

Make sure to chase the BB shell threads before you install this beauty.
I'd imagine you will need to use the injector tool quite often. BB bearings go through a lot more mileage and see water more frequently than those on a headset.

Having just seen, up close and personal, what one season of Shed, Snowshoe, and Wisp (not to mention FH, WF, etc.) has done to my Hollowtech II BB on my Hones, I'm actually impress that it's felt as smooth as the day Jabbs installed it on my frame. Even more impressive the puddle of water large enough to drown a hamster that spilled out of the BB shell after the cranks were pulled off.

I already installed it improperly. My drive side threads in the frame are in BAD shape and I torqued it in there anyways. I know I know. Idiot move, but I didn't want to deal with trying to find a shop to chase the threads and clean it up. I just hope it is square. If not, then an expensive screw up. I think I'll be fine.
I am getting the injector when it comes out.

I've got a pewter CK headset to match the bottom bracket. What color headset is your Ellsworth rockin?
BTW, good job mangling the threads. You can just increase the resale value of a frame that comes with a CK bottom bracket ;)

hopefully you catch a break and the bb threads are harder than the frame, then you can just get it chased properly and be alright. nice present though - i gave myself some new rims and tires, lots o $.

I just got a CK BB from a couple of Co-Workers for X-Mas! I mentioned a month ago the only bike-crack I've been fantasizing about is one of these thingys - now I have to clean my bike and install it...er, and then ride it- ha, ha!

I like the CK BB because the cups are very low profile. Looks like you might be able to use a small granny gear with it and might not have to go with the super expensive one from Action Tec. For most that isn't a big deal. For someone contemplating doing some loaded off-road touring in Colorado, that is quite possibly a very good thing.
