Hey everyone. I recently buiilt up a singlespeed and am wondering, should I get a bashguard for it?
The chainring is pretty strong, it's a blackspire DH ring(34t) and the chain is a BMX-type. I think it may be beneficial s there are a lot of logs and obstacles at wakefield and accotink. Any input would be helpful--thanks--Graham

My rationale is that the day when your chain snaps or comes loose and your leg comes barreling down on your chain ring- ultimately leading to a gruesome laceration of buckets-o-blood proportions, you'll regret not having a bashguard.
I've run rock-rings, bash guards even on a triple- good safety measure. I also run a roach stem pad, I've slammed my knee twice on the stem and thank goodness for that bad- no cuts, just bruising...

Race Face Bashguard is purty simple and relatively cheap @ $30+ or so... Spot also makes one, but I think they cost more (and aren't as robust as RF).

also nashbar sells a truvativ nockoff for a low price..but i think it's only good for covering up 34t..

I think I'll end up going with the nashbar version. It looks plenty strong, and it it the cheapest. Also, the Kooka on CBO only comes in 5-arm, I have a 4-arm set. thanks everyone for the suggestions--Graham
