i want to swap out the 140MM fox 32 vanilla RL fork (coil) that came stock on my bike for an air sprung one. it stated that on the talas the travel is adjustable between 100-120-140MM. does adjusting the travel actually raise or lower the stanchions into the lowers, thus affecting geometry? or does it just change the amount of travel internally? i have a 2003 manitou black elite that is 80/100MM on another bike and flicking the travel adjustment knob doesnt change anything outwardly.

Yes, it changes ride height.

Yes, it changes the height. If the 2003 you have _doesn't_ change height when you flip the switch, it's probably broken.
