Hey Everyone,
Will SRAM(x7) Shifters Work on a Shimano (Deore) Rear Derailer?

I broke my rear derailler (SRAM x7) but REI is taking weeks to order the part since its under warranty. In the mean time I would like to put an old Shimano(Deore) Rear derailer on, but the shifters are SRAM x7 and I am not sure if they are compatible.

Any help would be apprecitated.

Thanks,
Pete

Sorry, but no. SRAM shifters pull a different amount of cable per shift than Shimano, and the derailleurs are designed with this in mind.

If its your only option, you could hook it up anyway, lock it to one gear and have the worlds most complex single speed. :)
