View Full Version : Sore Foot

So I came back from FL and my right foot really hurts. I didn't do anything to it that I can recall, but for several days it began to hurt more and more. Now I'm hobbling.

It's worst just behind the ball of my foot, trending up toward the arch. It might be swollen, but not too bad. It's just very, very tender. It hurts to walk on it, and it hurts to use the brake pedal (fortunately not so bad I can't stop, regardless).

What should I do? I took some Naproxen this morning. I can't tell that it helped. I'll probably still keep taking it for a few days.

Ice? Heat?

My first two guesses would be Metatarsalgia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metatarsalgia)or Morton's neuroma (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Morton%27s_neuroma). I'd see your primary about it and if necessary get a referral to a podiatrist. Sorry I can't be more helpful, finals making my head exploded. :hammertime:

Hmmmm. Those two seem more close to the toes, and less from the ball of the foot heading into the arch like I have.

I made an appointment for my doctor a year or two ago about a sore toe. It turned out I must have stubbed it without realizing it, and so there was nothing to do but give it a few days to calm down. I don't want to be a hypocondriac. :nope:

It just kinda hurts for the moment.

OK, so it's very swollen. I took off my shoes and socks and compared the two feet. The right one is very much thicker and slightly red.

I googled. It's looking like a stress fracture might be a good possibility. I wonder if hauling around 41 lb steel scuba tanks might have had something to do with it?

I was confused about why I would have had the problem in one foot and not the other, but maybe I took the weight wrong and the one foot fractured.

Yeah, it did feel kinda weird telling someone to go to their doc for a sore foot when I ignored a fractured femur and didn't have it x-rayed until I managed to knock my tail bone out of place 2 months later.

Try epodiatry.com (http://www.epodiatry.com/foot-pain.htm). Hope it helps :)

Just a guess, but could it be Plantar fasciitis?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plantar_fasciitis

Kate got it kickboxing or running or something similar, that was repetitive and high impact. She was also using old athletic shoes with poor arch support if I recall correctly.
