What's this about 2 new trails at Fountainhead (see calender for Friday night ride 9/21)? I can't make it for the night ride, when do we get daytime access? How many miles do the new trails add? What are they like?

The board voted this past May to accept an offer from NVRPA to designate the Yellow trail (currently hiking only) as a single-use mountain biking trail. Our Fountainhead liaison, Stu Moulton, has worked out a plan with NVRPA to make the necessary changes to the trail in order to switch it over to full-time MTB use. I believe the workdays scheduled for this Fall will complete most of that work, but Stu will have to give us the latest info on when the changeover is likely to occur.
In the meantime, Stu has gotten permission for the monthly MORE nightrides to take in the yellow as well as white trails.

That's correct!
We're planning to focus on Yellow trail conversion to MTB use at the first workday (Oct. 19th).
The second workday (Nov. 17th) will focus on construction of a new loop. That will certainly take more than one workday for completion. It's likely that small groups will continue to work on that section through the winter. Hopefully, that will be opened next spring.
Although everybody gets pumped up about NEW TRAIL, we can't ignore the need for maintenance on the existing trail.
The Shock-A-Billy alternate route is in need of major work, too. The best MORE trail construction minds have suggested a number (perhaps 5) of switchbacks to allow an erosion resistent (rideable by less technically proficient riders) alternative to Shock-A-Billy hill.
There's lots to do at Fountainhead!
