MORE

Another great year for MORE comes to a close. Once again, the outstanding efforts by so many club members has made all the diffference. Thanks to all of you, the club has built more miles of new trail than ever before. We’ve helped teach more people to ride, improved our relations with land managers at all levels, and had lots of fun at rides, campouts and good old Kilroy’s.
The club continued to attract new members, including the addition of the Richmond chapter. Most importantly, we sustained and expanded the miles of trail open to mountain biking in our area. Along with the other members of last year’s board, I’d like to thank everyone -- trail volunteers, club leadership and sponsoring organizations -- for contributing to yet another outstanding year for MORE.
After such a great 2004, I’m very excited to be coming back to help manage the club this year as the new President. I’m constantly floored by the quality and resourcefullness of club members, and I’m sure this year will be no different. With a growing membership base, extraordinary support from our sponsors, and funding from trail grants, the club is in excellent financial shape, giving us the freedom to commit to even larger plans for our top priority: The trails.
After all the big projects of last year, it’s hard to imagine what more we can do this year. But we’re going to push forward with ongoing trail projects and hopefully add a few new ones to the mix. We hope to match last year’s standout projects such as the new trails at Rosaryville and Hoyle’s Mill with additional trail building projects in both Maryland and Virginia. You’ll be hearing more about these projects from our trail liaisons and advocacy directors over the coming months.
Another focus this year will be to structure the club to handle continued growth, including a permanent chapter system to accommodate other clubs that have expressed interest in joining up with MORE.
We’ll be holding our annual transition board meeting in a few weeks to plan out this year’s work, rides, trips, and other events. As always, we welcome your input on how we can make the club better serve the membership’s needs and further advance the club’s mission of improving mountain biking opportunities in the Mid-Atlantic.
Look forward to seeing you all out on the trail.
