The club’s annual election of board members is complete, and we have a few new members to welcome to the board this year. A few longtime board members are finishing up their service as well, so we’d like to espectially thank them for their hard work on the board over the last few years.
Finishing up this year are longtime club member and the guy who’s picture’s on all those Douthat mugs, Wesley Smith; our DC at-Large and the voice on the rideline Susan Driano; the man who’s kept us debt free and out of the poorhouse as treasurer, Brion Morrison; and the ever hard-working Nancy DeVore, who did an incredible job as our Virginia Advocacy Director. Hats off to all of you for your outstanding contributions to MORE.
New to this year’s board are Anne Mader of Bikelane fame who will be a VA at-large director; Mike Scardaville, who is taking up duties for MD and Randy Kerr, who will be our new Director of Advocacy for Virginia. Erin Gay will be watching the money as Treasurer. Rounding out the team are myself as President, Mike Bender as President-Elect, Vince Carman, Central VA at-Large (Richmond), Scott “Red Bull” Scudamore returning as trail boss, Austin Steo continuing as the finder of all our grant funding and MD Advocacy Director, Majed Jafari as Secretary and membership management, Ricky deLayos continuing as MD at-Large, and Lee Diehr coming back as VA at-large.
In addition to the board, a number of other club members help do the real work of keeping things moving along. We’re lucky to have Mark Wigfield, another SM100 killer himself, to take up communications and marketing this year, Joe Foley continues as web content manager and jersey guy amongst other things, and Martin Fernandez will keep the web site humming along as our first-class webmaster extraordinaire. We’ve also got several new trail liaisons but I’ll let our Scott, this year’s trail boss talk about the liaison program in another article.
So, welcome to all the new board members, and thanks again to those leaving the board.
