Please see the below request from Tawny Hammond at Lake Accotink Park. While the trails werent hit too bad at the park the park itself was severly damaged and needs help. Please consider helping out this weekend or sometime soon.
I will be scheduling a trail work day with Liz likely for late October.
Dear Friends,
We have organized something official for this weekend regarding cleaning up after tropical storm Hanna. We would appreciate your support in circulating the flyer and information to your contacts far and wide!
Many of you have expressed interest in not only doing something now, but also at our fall clean up day on October 25th. This is wonderful news. Some of you are scheduled for this week and please proceed as scheduled.
We need the help cleaning up now as well as this fall. The watershed is large and unfortunately we battle this problem of debris and trash in the lake year round. However, it is very severe now due to the ferocity of the storm.
The clean up efforts will be rain or shine and only cancelled in the event of very inclement weather (a downpour or thunder and lightening).
Thank you for your support. The outpouring of support as been heartwarming in a challenging time!
Contact Karstena Groner at 703-569-0285 (ext 0) to sign up or to get more information.
