Attention Montgomery County MORE Member:
Want more riding close to your home?
Tomorrow is your chance to bring new trails to Montgomery County.
The Montgomery County Park and Planning Commission Staff have created a mountain bike friendly plan for the Upper Rock Creek Corridor. Highlights of the plan include:
Multi-Use natural surface trails including a 12 mile natural surface trail connecting Lake Needwood, Lake Frank, and the Agricultural History Farm Park in the Mid-County Region.
A Mountain Bike Challenge area including a couple of pump tracks and trails with technical trail features such as log rides and drops.
Paved trail connecting Olney to the Rock Creek paved trail.
MORE and IMBA need you to let the Planning Commission know Montgomery County Residents support increasing trails. Too often other user groups outnumber mountain bikers at public hearings, leaving us without access to singletrack. Tomorrow you can help bring trails to Upper Rock Creek.
Date: September 11th 2008
Location: Planning Board Auditorium, 8787 Georgia Ave., Silver Spring, MD 20910
Time: 7:30pm
First and foremost, we need mountain bikers who can testify in support of the plan. To sign up call: 301-495-4600
If you are unable to attend, please send an email in support of the project to the Planning board. Email to: MCP-Chairman@mncppc-mc.org Be sure to include your name and address.
PDF Copy of the Plan (http://www.mcparkandplanning.org/parks/ppsd/parktrails/trail_planning/upper_rockcreek/documents/urcreek_tcp_draft-11sept2008web.pdf)
Your actions are crucial to the success of this project--we can't afford to lose this opportunity.
