So I leave work, drive to fountainhead, note Tom's sign for the upcoming trailwork day, get the in parking lot, prep the bike, get dressed, ride to the bathroom, ride on the road for a few minutes to warm the legs up, and as I am about to enter the singletrack see that the trail is CLOSED!

Never even saw the sign at the entrance since I was engrossed by the trailwork sign.

It was a really hard decision to pack the bike up, change back into normal clothes, and drive home.

So if anyone happens to know, why the hell was it closed? The rain was two days ago, and the trail was bone dry before that.

....So if anyone happens to know, why the hell was it closed? The rain was two days ago, and the trail was bone dry before that.

Two things:

1. There were 2 inches of rain centered lined on the 95 corrider from about Quantico to Wakefield on Wednesday Night. Fountain Head was in that swath. If the Park felt it should be closed then the trail is closed.

2. The same reasons the trail stays open sometimes (And I say sometimes) smack in the middle of a rain storm. NVRPA does not have the Staff to update trail conditions hour by hour. They probably closed the trail from the day before and had not opened it yet.

It is what it is and until an MOU is written and we (The collective MORE/MTB community and not ME) take over the duties of opening and closing the trail. (((And trust me, THAT'S not gonna happen))) any time soon either.

Anyway

I'm bummed you couldn't ride

I'm glad you didn't

And

For $300K I can solve all of your Fountain Head Problems
