Hi Everyone,
I got new pedals, Egg beaters SL. I have noticed when pedaling that they are making a squeaky noise? My original Candy pedals never had noise? I checked the cleats and they are on tight. I also checked the pedals and everything is tight? If this is "normal" noise than I'm ok with it, just that my candys never made noise? For those that use the egg beaters is this normal?
Thanks.

Nope, not normal. I've got them on several bikes and they've never made a peep. Are you sure that the noise is coming from the pedals? If so, try lubing them.

That is not normal in my experience. Try lubing the cleats too.

When I used them mine would squeak a little when they were getting a little dry inside. The bearing didn't last long once the squeaking began so you should probably grease them soon.

I will try lubing them with some grease.
Thanks again for the info ... love the MORE forums!

You should spray the springs with some Triflow as well as repacking the bearings. The can be a source of squeaking, too. My cheap SPD's (spend on shoes, save on pedals) make some noise from time to time. A shot of spray lube on the spring system seems to fix my problems.
Well, my pedal squeaking problems, anyway.

Occasionally when the pedals are new, mine will squeak for a few rides where the shoe tread makes contact with the pedal. Never had the pedal itself squeak though.

Found out the problem ... I also bought new shoes and the soles rub against the pedal and it makes a squeking noise. I don't mind it anymore as I know it is not the pedal.
Thanks for all the info/suggestions.
