I recently moved (well not recently - about 1 year) to Woodbridge, VA and have heard that there is some good riding down in Fredericksburg (about 30 miles South of Potomac Mills)
Anyone know where?
willing to show me the way?

Hey Martin.
Here is a trail for you to check out. Though I haven't tried it yet, I thought I'd guinea pig you on it. I've heard good things about this trail. If they turn out to be great, then you can report back to the forum and we can plan some rides down there. Deal?
Hollywood Farms (http://www.mtbr.com/trails/Virginia/HollywoodFarms.html)
I was reading on Trails.com that there are some mountain bike trails at Prince William Forrest Park. Back in the day, we used to do laps there on the road bike for interval training and all the dirt trails were closed to bicycles. You might want to check that out if you get really bored. I make no guarantees on that one though. It could turn out to be 8.2 miles of dirt roads. It is located near Quantico, VA.
Hope that helps. Let me know what you find at Hollywood Farms. It might be fun to do a road trip down there if the trails are really good.
The End.

You may want to try Lodi Farm (a.k.a. Hollywood Farm)...just a little east of Fredericksburg. <http://www.bikeracing.com/Rider%20Services/Trails%20Pages/lodifarm.htm>
The staff at Old Towne Bikes (a shop near Potomac Mills and a shop in Fredericksburg) have regular group rides, too. They used to ride a trail system adjacent to an old quarry on private property. It's my understanding that the landowner has vacillated on MTB access. The Old Towne guys willl have the latest on required permission to ride the quarry trails.

Unfortuneately all single track trails in the Prince William National Forest Park are closed to all trail users except hikers. There is about 12-14 miles of dirt fireroads that are open but most are out and back and quite frankly with a few exceptions not very much fun although a bit of a good aerobic workout.

Scott and I went to PW Forest a while ago. It's a shame those trails are closed. I walk them with Spooky (my dog) all the time and they would be fantastic riding...
I'll check out Lodi/Hollywood sometime this week. Anyone care to join me for an easy ride?

Thanks!
Scott and I did a short ride in Hollywood. Very nice twisty trails. Lots of ups and downs and twisty trails.
Did I say the trails were twisty?
Great fun, thanks for the tip.

It's probably about 50 some miles from DC. It was about 30 from my house.
There's probably 8 or 9 miles of great trails. I'd say they are like Schaffer Farms, but probably with less elevation change. There are lots of ups and downs and turns, which makes the ride pretty interesting.
Let me know if you want to come down. We can meet at my house and then go from there.
Anyone else interested?
