Saturday, April 19, 9:30 am: Black Hill Regional Park (MD)

Meet at the BHRP parking lot on Clarksburg Road/Rt 121 (Rt 270 N to exit 18, west on Rt 121 abotu 2-2.5 miles on the left)
We will then drive a short way back on Rt 121 and park on the shoulder at the trailhead to Cool Springs Run, and hike in from there to the work area.
MORE and MNCPPC will provide tools, but you can bring your own shovel. Also bring lunch or a snack.
Wear sturdy boots, and bring work gloves.

Saturday, April 19, 9:00 am: Fairfax CCT (VA)

We will be continuing our efforts to build and maintain sustainable natural surface trail along the Fairfax Cross County Trail. We are moving our efforts to the Difficult Run section of the CCT in Great Falls. We’ll be working north of Leigh Mill Road (headed toward Great Falls Park).

This section has several seriously bad mud pits and drainage problems after any kind of wet period. There is also a section needing to be properly relocated where the trail is now located underwater in the streambed.

Projects will include building raised single-track width tread and consolidating several braided bypass paths with a sustainable side-hill bench cut. The park authority is delivering the stone out on the trail as close as possible to our work areas. Work will include moving and spreading stone and a side-hill cut.

Bring: water, gloves and sturdy shoes. MORE will provide tools. Extra wheelbarrows will probably still be helpful even though our material will be close at hand.

Directions: From Route 7, Leesburg Pike, turn north on Towlston Road (this is the same light where you turn to go to Wolf Trap but the opposite direction), turn left on Leigh Mill Road, park on the shoulder at Ramey’s Meadow Park before crossing Difficult Run.
