Are you a MORE member in good standing? Do you enjoy sharing your passion for riding with other people? Would you like to give a little something back to our club that doesn't involved a McLeod and/or shovel?* If the answer to any of these questions is "Yes" then become a Ride Leader (http://www.more-mtb.org/index.php?page=LeadingRides).

With the end of winter, a number of our night rides have also come to an end. The good news, however, is that the days are longer and you can leave the down parka at home.

We have a number of people who step up each and ever year to lead rides. For 2008 I'd really like to see some new faces join those infamous (http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1216/972853279_42a9c0cf4d.jpg?v=0) ranks. If you're not sure where to get started there are several links on the MORE home page that can be seen here (http://www.more-mtb.org/index.php?page=RideLeaderChecklist) , and here. (http://www.more-mtb.org/index.php?page=RideTips) Of course you can always email me, Todd, at ride-coordinator@more-mtb.org

For our MORE seasoned ride leaders, we've made some changes and it's easier than ever to post up your latest epic ride. If you go to the calendar (http://www.more-mtb.org/forum/calendar.php) section of the forum, just navigate to the day you had in mind and click on the "Add New Event (http://www.more-mtb.org/forum/calendar.php?do=add&c=2&day=2008-4-3)" link in the right corner for that day. Here, you can enter all the information that pertains to your proposed ride. There are drop down menus that contain most of the normal choices for time, pace, difficulty, location and so on. If you don't see a selection that works, no worries, there is a box to the left for a more customized ride. There is even a big box at the bottom where you can tell the world, in your own words, what to expect on your adventure. Just think, no more email cutting and pasting. No more dropped hyper links with that cool picture you wanted included in the post. You can control every aspect (almost) of the Event Listing. Once you finish filling in the information for your ride, simply hit "submit". All rides have to be approved before they make it into the calendar, so, it might take a couple hours before it is posted.

If you've ever wanted to lead a MORE ride, 2008 is your year. Help us continue to make this the best club in the Mid-Atlantic region. If you are one of our regular leaders, thank you for all your dedication.

See you on the trails,
Todd Bauer
2008 Ride Coordinator (ride-coordinator@more-mtb.org)

* We still want and need you for trail work though. ;)

I plan on doing a few for RLAG. I maybe able to do some casual rides @ Wakefield and/or Rosaryville for after work rides.

The Bike Lane will once again be offering an incentive to encourage members to lead club rides. Just like last year there will be a $500 Bike Lane gift certificate up for grabs via raffle at this year’s Winter Party.

For each ride you schedule and get listed on the MORE calendar you will receive 1 entry into the Raffle. In order to receive the entry you must actually lead the ride, however if your ride is cancelled due to inclement weather you’ll still receive credit for that ride.

In addition to receiving 1 entry per standard ride scheduled there is also an opportunity to earn an additional entry per ride by listing it as an official Bike Lane ride. All that’s required to get your ride listed and included in the Bike Lane schedule is to CC info@thebikelane.com on your ride submission email and to submit your ride by the beginning of the week (COB Monday). This gives the folks at The Bike Lane enough time to get the ride included on their calendar as well as the official MORE calendar.

We don't need a ride report, but, we do need you fax your signed waivers to an E-Fax account that is in the works. Once I have the number, I'll pass the information onto the rest of the club. In the mean time, just hold onto your waivers and keep them safe. We will be using them as a way to confirm and track the number of rides people lead. Think of it as an "incentive" to get those precious papers signed. ;)

Thanks for leading these rides. We really appreciate your dedication to the club.

Todd, could you link up the disclaimer form and the sign up sheets for people who don't have them already on file?

Hey, as long as it took me to find it, it is the least I could do to save another poor soul the torment.
